Two Departments: 100 Driver's Homes will be built this year

Data show that there are more than 20 million road freight workers and 13 million trucks in China. "Driver's Home" refers to places and building facilities that provide public services mainly for road transport vehicles and drivers. It generally has such service functions as catering, rest, parking security, publicity and education. According to the construction requirements, "Driver's Home" should be constructed in expressway service area, trunk highway service area (station) of common provinces, cargo distribution center of logistics channel or logistics park.
Last year, the two departments issued a request to organize pilot work on the construction of "driver's home" in 10 provinces, such as Hebei, Liaoning and Jilin. Each pilot province will pilot the construction of three to five "driver's home" in order to explore the construction, operation, management and service mode of "driver's home" with typical demonstration significance and driving role. By the end of 2018, 32 "driver's homes" had been built in 10 provinces.
The circular calls for greater policy support. All provincial transport authorities and trade union organizations should jointly study and formulate relevant incentive and support policies, provide policy support and financial subsidies for the construction and operation of "Driver's Home", and actively guide the continuous investment of social funds. In combination with the construction of civilized service in expressway service area, reconstruction of common highway service station and construction of road passenger transport junction, priority should be given to the construction project of "driver's home" which meets the relevant requirements.
